The Chamber of Architects of Romania is organising an international project competition for the spatial and architectural redesign of the National History Museum of Romania in Bucharest. The UIA has given its endorsement to the single-phase project competition, which is in accordance with the UIA-UNESCO regulations. The competition is supported by the Romanian Ministry of Culture and will be launched on 1 February 2016.
By enhancing its edifice and its urban context, refurbishing its collections and improving the quality of cultural services offered to the public, the National History Museum of Romania in Bucharest will take its place among leading European institutions as a contemporary museum complex.Thus the international competition seeks to find the best spatial and museological design for the new museum.
The winning project should present an refined architectural plan, which will exhibit Romanian national history for a 21st century public and bring new life to its historic home, the former Palace of Post.

PARTICIPATION PROCEDURE
Architects from all countries may participate. Multidisciplinary teams led by an architect are recommended. The competition language is English. A visit to the site is planned for 20 February 2016. Registrations can be completed during the entire duration of the competition. The deadline for project submission is 31 May 2016. Three prizes will be awarded: 1st Prize: 30,000 €; 2nd Prize: 20,000 €; 3rd Prize 10,000 €.
